Our first Christmas tree..

Vladimir and Irma bought a magnificent christmas tree! It is amazing and so special, because I know that Vladimir got it just for us girls.

Obviously for Irma, but also for me it is the first christmas tree at home since I moved out of my parents house.

I saw these cute wooden figures in an antiques shop and couldnt resist to buy them for our tree.

And at easter reindeers will come..

The patterns for the stuffed bunny you can find on the website of Kimmys Freizeit.

With the horde of bunnies that I am sewing right now, I hope that they wont already hide easter eggs on christmas.
Bunny number 3 is done.

This time I used a plush whose optic reminds a little bit of sheep wool. Because the color is a little dark and it could be a little more colorful for a young boy, I decided, to him a t-shirt too.
But because he has a big head and the stuffed bunny also has a huge bobble I had to sew the shirt around him. Due to laziness, because I didn't want to sew extra buttons too! I really dont know though what would have been more difficult, the of agonizing sewing around or buttons you can open up.

Now my first christmas present is done! For Hector a stuffed bunny, and I would say, I did a pretty good job.

Now that only leaves the christmas presents for everyone else. Phew, my project of making all christmas presents by myself is a very slow process!

Snow bunny..

You can find the pattern for the snow bunny on the website of Kimmys Freizeit.

So it fits at least a little into christmas time, Hector will get a white snow bunny made out of plush. But as soon as I tailored the head and the body, Vladimir surprisingly was extremely enthusiastic and was very persistent that Irma would get it and so I would have to sew another one for Heki.

Alright, so Irma will just get another stuffed bunny for christmas. You can never have enough bunnies in ones barn and our little one is more excited about unwrapping things anyway other than the present itself.

When I was done with the face Vladimirs rapture decreased though and I have to admit the bunny looked a little crumpled. Well, its a good thing that I can practice on Hekis stuffed bunny.

I definitely learned one thing: Pay attention to what way hairs of the plush point at the when you cut out the pieces. I didnt and had to cut out a lot of pieces again.

My guinea pig..

Hectors present is the first one on my list. Because of him I had the idea to make all christmas presents myself. I wanted to sew him a teddy bear, but then I found a pattern for a stuffed bunny, that seemed to be easier to make - I am not too great at sewing yet, so the bear has to wait.

I found the pattern on Kimmys Freizeit.

But the first guinea pig should be for Irma. For that I used an old pillowcase and a worn-out shirt.
I tried really hard, but somehow the stuffed bunny doesnt look exactly like the sample.
Especially the body doesnt make sense, so I turned it 180 degrees. Now the bunny has a flat belly and two bottom cheeks. Because of that I could sew on a bobble too.

So he is a little bit more exciting for Irma, I stuffed a capsule of a kinder surprise egg - that was filled with raw lentils - into the bunnies belly. Now it has a bobble and rattles.

To sew the stuffed bunny was relatively easy, but to make a pretty face was definitely a challenge for me. It seems so simple, it took a couple of attempts to having both eyes at the same height and also to sew the nose. After I tried out a couple of methods, I found that Stricktwist was the easiest.

Here you can see my first self-sewed stuffed bunny. It doesnt look exactly like the original, but I still am proud of myself.

´Tis the season..

I love this time of the year and am so excited, that we can celebrate with three little kids this year. My two nephews Edgar and Hektor and of course our sweetie pie Irma.
With them the festivities will be even more magical. And I will be able to act out my childish delight without any wry looks.

Vladimir doesn’t really care about the whole christmas frippery and shares my excitement only moderately. But now that there are three of us, he suddenly finds idt “quite ok” and even offered to play Santa Claus this year. After all he senses how exciting this time for kids is und he would do anything for his little girl..

Because I am spending a lot of time at home now that I am a new mom, Vladimir usually is working and Irma is sleeping rather well, I decided to spend my time in a better way.
Enough with watching Shopping Queen and sprawl, this year all the christmas presents will be hand made.

When I told a friend she said: “Oh great! And what kind of things will you do? Straw stars?” No, I hope not!
Of course I will make an effort to create a little bit more exciting presents, despite of personal handicraft work.
We will see, how that is going to work out. Otherwise I may come back to her suggestion. However straw stars are kind of neat.
