A girl pouch for Ada..

Little Ada is around 6 years old and invited all her friends to a picnic, before kindergarten starts again.

Since Philippa, my cousins little one, was so excited about her girls pouch, I wanted to give one to Ada too.

Hopefully she will be as happy as her.

Here you can find the pattern for the girlspouch.

An Angry Bird- bathrobe for Edgar..

Edgar, my nephew, really wanted to spend his vacation with his grandparents in Sweden. He is already 7 and of course vacation without parents is doable.

I sewed a Jedi-bathrobe for Ville and since both boys are approximately the same age I wanted to sew Edgar one too.
When I asked him wether he liked Star Wars though, he answered with a clear MEEH. He doesnt like Star Wars at all, instead he likes Cars and Angry Birds.
Im glad, that I hadn't started with his bath robe yet.

I used the pattern from Burda, that I cut a little smaller like with the Jedi-bathrobe.

The hood consists of an inner one and an outer one. The eyes and brows I sewed in a thick zick- zack on the outer hood.

Between the centered seam of the outer hood I sewed a couple of red crest feathers on the top and a couple of black tail feathers in the neck.

Between the inner and outer hood I sewed on a yellow beak.

I tailored the robe in the same size as the Jedi-bathrobe, I just made the sleeves and the hood a lot smaller.

In Sweden you go swimming in the summer, when the sun is shining, its raining or when the weather is not that great. Because it doesnt get hot very often. Most of the time the water is even warmer than the air, so a fluffy bathing robe comes in handy, when you come out of the water.

Here you can see both boys with their new bath robes. Yes, the robes are still a little too big and have room to grow into. Hopefully they will like Star Wars and Angry Birds for another couple years! Otherwise they will be passed on to their younger brothers.

A Jedi-bathrobe for Ville..

Ville now is 6 years old and I really had no idea, what I could sew, that he would be happy with.
Since I am sure a stuffed animal is too boring for him and of course I cant sew Lego or something similar.
So my Cousin Karin suggested to make him a Jedi-bath robe. Because Ville is a huge Star Wars fan and wanted to have a Jedi-costume for a long time now.
Perfect, couldnt be better. I still had the Burda patter for the bathrobe, that I made for my mom on Christmas. My mom is not really tall, so the size should work.

I thought it would be unnecessary to get a pattern for kids. I just used the one I had for my moms, and cheated a couple inches away.

Though I tailored the sleeves very wide and the hood should be oversized for the Jedi-bathrobe too.

On a small piece of sweat-jersey I had someone print the Jedi sign. Originally I wanted to sew it on the chest, but the print turned out to be too big and so I sewed it on the back.

My nephew Edgar I sewed an Angry Bird- bathrobe.
In this picture the boys are at the beach at the lake Tolken in there a little too big bath robes. But they grow so fast anyway..

A diaper bag for Olivia..

For mom Olivia and her little baby I sewed a diaper bag.

You can use the bag as hanging organizer and for on the road turn it into a bag.

The bag easily fits a couple of diapers, a small pack of wipes and a changing mat. Additional I put tissues, baby creme, baby shampoo and disinfection spray into it. So its really very spacious.

Pillow- and blanket case for the doll bed..

My mom thought, that a doll should change its bedding every once in a while.
And by now in know, Moms are always right ;)
Thats why I have the whole thing in yellow here with sewing instructions.

DIY

1.     Measure the pillow and the blanket. In my case the measurements for the pillow are 9x6.2 and for the Blanket 15x10.2.

2.     You can cut the fabric in one piece. That means, the length times 2 plus the tuck-in of approx. 4 plus the seam allowance of approx. 0.4-0.8 times width.

For the pillow that would be 9 + 9 + 4 + 0.8 = 22.8 length and 6.2 + 0.8 = 7 width.

But since I dont have that big of a piece of fabric I cut the back piece with 9x6.2 plus the seam allowance and the front piece with 13 (length + tuck in) x 6.2 plus seam allowance.

3. Sew together one short end of the front and back piece.

4. On the stitched side of the front piece, wrap the added 4 tuck-in, pin it and if you want staple along the side together so the fabric wont get out of place, when you sew the front and back pieces together.

I have to admit, I shouldve ironed the fabric before, but if I dont have to, I fight against it! Ironing is just really boring and in time the wrinkles disappear anyways. I know, I am lazy..

The tuck-in serves the purpose, to later hide the pillow in it.

5. Lastly, sew the front and back pieces right on right on both long sides and on the not yet sewed short end together.
Obviously the short end with the tuck-in wont be sewed together, so you can insert the
pillow/blanket later on.
