A cuddle bunny for Hilma’s little sister..

2-years old Hilma will be a big sister next month.
Thats why my cousin Per, soon to be 2 times dad, unfortunately couldnt come to the crayfish fest with his family.
They live at the sunny island Gotland and the long trip would have been too exhausting for the highly pregnant Olivia.
Therefor next week Per is coming to Tolken for a short trip and then I can give him at least the presents for the girls.

For Hilma I have the stuffed teddy, mom Olivia will get a diaper bag and the little sister gets a bunny.

When Irma was still tiny, she got such a cuddle doll in green by the company Peppa.
I thought the bunny was so cute, that wanted to sew it too.

Here you can find the pattern for the bunny.

Here the bunny hangs on a clothes line in the garden in Tolken.

A stuffed bear for Hilma..

I was so mad, that I failed to sew on the nose of the bear, that I made another bear for Hilma.

Burda

This time I used felt, which cant fray and sewed the nose on by hand.

I am still using the pattern from Burda Style.

Here the teddies and a worry eater, my cousin Karin got, are enjoying the sun in front of the entrance door at the summer house at Tolken.

Stuffed teddies for little girls..

Schnittmuster und Nähanleitung Burda

For Hilma, who isnt two years old yet, I sewed a teddy. The pattern for it I found at Burda.

When I was done with it though, Irma took it and didnt want to give it back. She cuddled and kissed him like crazy. Seeing that, I couldnt take it away from her.

So I sewed another one for Hilma. I thought, if all the kids in Sweden got a present, Irma should get one too.

Irma doesnt care, but unfortunately I didnt get the nose right. I sewed on the little nose with the sewing machine and the result is really not satisfactory. Other than that the teddies turned out to be really cute.

A pair pretty oven gloves for mom’s new kitchen..

My parents bought a cute summer house in Sweden by lake Tolken a couple years ago. With that a long desired dream of my mom came true.
Since then they are diligently renovating and building up. They have a lot of fun with it and it is the perfect pastime now that they retired.

Last month was my moms birthday and since we hadnt seen each other since then she got her present a little later.
For her kitchen in the summer house I sewed her a pair of oven gloves, that were supposed to look a little prettier..

I found the pattern on the website of bagsn style.

I just didnt make the oven gloves as strawberryish, since my mom loves the color blue so much.

Finally vacation..

This year we finally went to Sweden again. Vladimir had never been in Sweden and it was time for him and Irma to meet the rest of my family.

My parents are from the Borås area, and like it is with every migrant worker family, we spent every summer in Sweden.
We always lived with the family of my moms sister, which was awesome for us kids, since we spent out vacation with our cousins, who were around the same age.

A couple years ago my mom realized her dream, to have a little summer house in that area. My parents found a great summer house with garden by lake Tolken. Very idyllic and perfect to spend vacation with a little child.

Since I hadnt been in Sweden for three years and our family had gotten a lot bigger, I wanted to bring presents for all the kids and intended to sew all of them myself. That definitely was a little stressful, since they were 11 kids and my mom had her birthday too. 3 weeks before our departure I started and sewed like an assembly line, while Irma slept.

In Sweden we celebrate the traditional crayfish fest kräftskiva. Everyone HAS to wear a little paper hat and of course we eat crayfish and drink a lot. Normally someone strikes up a Schnapps song and then you drink a shot of Schnapps. You can imagine, in the course of the evening the Schnapps songs are struck up a lot more frequent.

A bowl full of crayfish

A typical Swedish Schnaps is Aquavit, which tastes meeeh, but cant be missing at the table. But dont worry, there are other brands of Schnapps and soft alcohol at Swedish festivities.

Aquavit, snaps and crayfish

This Saturday we had our crayfish fest and the whole family on my moms side came. We were really lucky with the weather. The sun was shining and it was nice and warm. Even in the evening we could sit comfortably outside, which is rarely the case in Sweden.

In the afternoon we gave out all our present. For the little ones this day was like Christmas.
It was really a successful fest and nice to see everyone again.
